About The Position

Dominion Energy’s Nuclear Analysis & Fuel and Regulatory Assurance department is seeking a Virginia Commonwealth University student for a Summer 2027 cooperative position with the potential to work part time in following semesters. The position is with the Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) group at Dominion Energy’s Innsbrook Technical Center in Glen Allen, Virginia. The PRA group develops, maintains, and applies PRA models in support of Dominion’s nuclear plants in Virginia, Connecticut, and South Carolina. These models evaluate how a plant responds to events, accounting for plant system designs and operator actions, and assess the risk importance of systems and components. The resulting insights support improvements to the safety and efficiency of plant operations and maintenance. The student will assist engineers with PRA model development, maintenance, and application. The role may also involve plant walkdowns. The strongest candidates will have a solid mathematics and statistics background, learn technical concepts quickly, work independently or collaboratively, communicate effectively, and be able to learn detailed plant systems and PRA modeling methods. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to random drug testing. The candidate must qualify for unescorted access to Dominion nuclear sites. The role may involve access to information subject to 10 CFR 810 and U.S. export controls. Dominion Energy cannot transfer or sponsor a work visa or employment authorization for this position.
