Within the framework of the RTX Lifecycle Program Management System(RLPM) Gates A through D and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), the NPI Manufacturing Engineer, analyzes and modifies product designs in collaboration with Design Engineering to assure manufacturability. Develops design, selection, specification, and optimization of the required equipment, fixtures, tooling, gaging, processes, and operations. Determines other technical matters required to make a given product according to the desired volume, timetable, cost, quality level, and other specifications. Includes the monitoring of established processes via data collection for statistical analysis purposes as well as the use of various continuous improvement enablers. May evaluate manufacturing capability and provide technical support at the supply base. The ability to effectively influence high performance teams, consistent with Collins Aerospace corporate and Operations Core Values, will be key to the success of this individual.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum 2 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering environemnt.
  • Experience in GD&T , reading blueprints and creating work instructions.

  • Exposure to ERP systems, SAP preferred.
  • Experience with the practical application APQP principles.

  • Effective with Engineering programs, such as, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Additive Manufacturing. techniques (3D printing), and Solidworks.
  • Experienced with government and regulatory body requirements, such as, FAA, FDA, DOE, DoD, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops manufacturing processes for products, taking into consideration problems inherent in the transfer of technology from research to manufacturing. Such design and development may include new or revised processes.
  • Develops procedures for the economical mass production in cooperation with pilot-plant and production departments.
  • Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables; and services, troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation.
  • Reviews field support requirements and recommends tools and test equipment.
  • Determines maintenance and repair materials required for deployment.
  • May make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.
  • Provides guidance for engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Analyzes designs and provides feedback and suggested changes for component layouts.
  • Consulted for the quality of new designs relative to compatibility to the intended manufacturing processes.
  • Supports and/or facilitates MT&BP (Manufacturing Transition & Build Plan), DTC+ (Design to Cost Plus), Producibility Tenets
  • Leads and/or supports activities involving variability reduction to identify and mitigate process and product risk (DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, etc.).
  • Works autonomously with limited oversight from manager.
  • Influences others regarding policies, practices and procedures
