About The Position

As an NPI Manufacturing Engineer (New Grad) at Viavi Solutions Canada ULC, you will play a crucial role in the development and launch of new products. You will contribute to the development and optimization of our manufacturing processes, focusing on advanced optical and electronic test and measurement solutions produced by the FOPLT Business Unit. This position will partner with R&D during NPI (New Product Introduction) and continue to support products through their lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (e.g., Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, process control, and statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with various manufacturing techniques (e.g., assembly, testing, soldering, optical alignment) through coursework or internships is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong analytical mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of manufacturing processes, fixtures, and tooling for new and existing products.
  • Conduct process validation and verification activities, including data collection and analysis to ensure product quality and manufacturability.
  • Support the transfer of NPI (New Product Introduction) from R&D to production at Asia-based contract manufacturers, ensuring smooth and efficient transitions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, quality assurance, and supply chain to resolve manufacturing issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, root causes of failures, and opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and Six Sigma projects to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
