About The Position

The NPI Machinist sets up computerized numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools and related equipment for machining operations supporting new product development. The work includes first articles and pilot lots for process verification. The role participates in problem-solving and quality-improvement activities, operates machines when required, trains other department employees, provides performance-assessment feedback to a supervisor, and supports teamwork and team development. The machinist works from drawings, 3D CAD models, and CNC programs; sets up and inspects first-article parts; and uses measurement tools and advanced inspection systems to verify that parts meet requirements. The position works with CNC programmers and quality inspectors to resolve machining and nonconformance issues, develop sustainable machining programs, and establish setup procedures and work instructions for future production runs. It also involves running multiple CNC machines and manual machines, maintaining part quality, reporting unsafe or abnormal conditions, and keeping work areas clean. This position works in a manufacturing environment around moving mechanical equipment, machine tools, materials, and finished products. Work includes exposure to machine noise, metal chips, cutting fluids, lubricants, and varying temperatures. Appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to company safety, housekeeping, and Foreign Object Debris prevention practices are required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
