2nd Shift CNC Laser Operator - (4) 10 hour shifts

About The Position

APX is an industry leader in metal manufacturing, including enclosures, custom fabrication, machining, and industrial coatings. The CNC Laser Operator operates CNC laser cutting and other production machinery, or assists other machine operators. The role involves setting up lenses for material type and thickness, loading programs, configuring machine parameters, monitoring bulk-tank fill levels, and working with an automated storage system. The operator may also assemble items as directed and handle raw materials and finished products manually or with a hoist. The position requires attention to detail, flexibility for shift work and some weekends, and compliance with applicable OSHA standards.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience operating Trumpf, Amada, or similar CNC laser cutting machines.
Solid background working with sheet metal.
Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance.
Proven measurement skills and ability to convert fractions and decimals.
Flexible schedule; shift work and some weekend work are required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to read blueprints.

Responsibilities

Operate CNC laser cutting machines and other production machinery, or assist other machine operators.
Select and set up lenses based on material type and thickness; load programs and set machine parameters for optimal equipment performance.
Understand shield gases used during laser cutting operations.
Monitor the bulk tank system’s fill level and report reorder levels to the supervisor.
Work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and use the automated storage system.
Maintain attention to detail and focus on assigned tasks.
Assemble items as instructed by the shift leader or floor supervisor.
Lift and move raw materials, finished products, and shipment items manually or using a hoist.
Uphold applicable OSHA standards.
