About The Position

This Project Manager (PM), NPI Engineering position will be based in our Hobson & Motzer site in Durham CT. This position will be responsible for overall management of our New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, driving the success of those programs, and ensuring customer communications are timely and accurate. The individual will partner with engineering, operations, and commercial teams to ensure successful product launches, optimized manufacturability, and competitive pricing. As a Project Manager (PM), NPI Engineering at our Hobson & Motzer site in Durham, CT, you will have the opportunity to provide overall management of our site’s NPI programs ensuring programs are well planned and efficiently executed. You will be able to work with internal and external customers and resources while overseeing all aspects of projects, including ownership of specific projects. This is a great role to expand your existing project management and business knowledge as you will be involved from the initial quote process, including customer proposals, to the final production stabilization while launching medical devices, which positively affect patients’ lives. This position requires strong technical expertise, project leadership, and the ability to balance execution with strategic thinking. The successful candidate will have product and process knowledge in addition to strong PM skills. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, attention to detail, and willingness to be hands-on when task completion is required and wants to grow professionally with high internal expectations.

Requirements

  • Engineering or bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
  • 7+ years of work experience in similar technical roles including medical device or regulated industry manufacturing required.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Working knowledge of ISO and FDA regulations and GD&T required.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding and experience in precision progressive die stamping, coining, secondary tooling, CNC machining, and inspection is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in medical devices is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of all site-based NPI programs including status and resource planning.
  • Lead individual end-to-end NPI programs from concept through production transfer.
  • Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, risks, and resource plans across all programs.
  • Serve as primary customer interface for project execution and communication.
  • Detect and work to mitigate project slippage.
  • Facilitate meetings with the lead engineer and key players assigned to the projects.
  • Ensure achievement of project milestones and customer deliverables.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to support proposal development and customer discussions.
  • Report NPI status and performance to executive management.
  • Provide next steps required when problems arise.
  • Ensure internal and external customer expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Researching outside services or new processes
  • Facilitate teams to help expedite elements of a project.
  • Ability and willingness to contribute to individual engineering tasks as needed to advance projects.
  • Infrequent travel as needed for site-visits, customer meetings, and industry events.
