About The Position

The NP/PA, Surgical functions in a collaborative practice with physician(s) in the outpatient and inpatient setting. Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols. Develops and maintains own volume of patients under the supervision of a physician. Provides practice/clinic/call coverage and may round for physician(s) during periods of absence. Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, up to and including hospital rounding/consultation, assisting in surgery if appropriate and prescriptive authority.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurses Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred.
  • Physician Assistants Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies and minimum 1 year of experience in related specialized area strongly preferred.
  • Current Texas professional registered nurse license
  • Current Texas professional advanced practice registered nurse license
  • Certified as an RNFA preferred
  • Certified as a Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
  • Current Basic Life Support (CPR) is required.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required when assigned to Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Pediatric nurse practitioner acute care certification required when assigned to Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Pediatric Surgery/Trauma
  • Current Texas professional physician assistant license.
  • Certified as a PA-C

Nice To Haves

  • minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred
  • minimum 1 year of experience in related specialized area strongly preferred
  • Certified as an RNFA preferred
  • Pediatric nurse practitioner acute care certification required when assigned to Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Pediatric Surgery/Trauma
