About The Position

Corewell Health Orthopedic Trauma offers an excellent full-time opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider. The Orthopedic Trauma section provides integrated musculoskeletal care to patients with unplanned presentations. Common presenting conditions include fractures due to trauma, pathologic fractures related to osteoporosis, and infections and other acute abnormalities of bone or muscle. Patients are followed through treatment of their presenting pathology until fully treated or referral to subspecialist deemed appropriate. The Ortho-trauma APP will, under the direction of the attending physicians and with the assistance of the orthopedic residency program provide excellent clinical care to that population.

Requirements

• Master's Degree (for Nurse Practitioner)
• Master's Degree (for Physician Assistant)
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program
• LIC-Nurse Practitioner (NP) - State of Michigan
• LIC-Physician Assistant - State of Michigan
• CRT-Physician Asst Certified (PA-C) - NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS)
• CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS)

Nice To Haves

• Nurse Practitioners who obtained their education and certification after 2000 must show evidence of completion of a master’s, post-master’s or doctorate from a Nurse Practitioner program that is accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission

Responsibilities

• Operative assisting
• Daily rounding
• Coordination of patient care with multiple additional medical, surgical, and ancillary services
• Performance of initial consultations
• Performance of minor orthopedic procedures as deemed appropriate
• Patient education
• Performance of orthopedic clinic visits either in conjunction with or independent of direct physician oversite
• Floor oversite/ ED consults/ Clinic / OR
