About The Position

This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE) for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Cardiology, located in Fargo, ND. The role involves working collaboratively within a growing, collegial, and fast-paced Cardiology team that offers multi-specialty services. The team is committed to customer service and high-quality care. The position is part of a team-based model that includes 13 Physicians and 13 Advanced Practice Providers, along with nurses, techs, and ancillary staff within the Heart & Vascular Department. The NP/PA will provide health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, and may care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly. The position requires high-level customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate state (if NP); will need ND & MN.
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in appropriate state; will need ND & MN.
  • Current certification in CPR & ACLS.
  • National certification, in applicable area.
  • Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
  • Requires licensure and DEA in both ND and MN.
  • Vast knowledge of heart & vascular pathophysiology.
  • Strong patient communication and educational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced practice experience preferred.
  • Preferred background/experience in cardiology.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision-making skills.
  • Works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals.
  • Provides health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Treats clinic patients (approximately 12 per day).
  • Conducts 3-4 days of clinic outreach/telemedicine per month in regional locations for heart failure patients.
  • Supervises stress testing.
  • Conducts independent clinic visits.
  • Communicates and educates patients effectively regarding their health.
