About The Position
The Nurse Practitioner works in Occupational Health at the Honda Plant in Lincoln, Alabama (Talladega). This is a PRN role performed on an as-needed basis on weekdays, with participation in an on-call rotation. The position evaluates and treats patients, contributes to efforts to improve care quality and cost effectiveness, accepts referrals, and may act as an admitting, attending, or consulting physician for patients hospitalized with primary medical diagnoses, depending on patient and organizational needs. The role may also include inpatient and outpatient specialty consultations and participation in academic programs such as medical education and research. UAB St. Vincent’s is part of UAB Medicine and serves Alabama through five hospitals and numerous clinics. Requirements
- Master’s degree in Nursing.
- BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association (AHA), obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer.
- Certified Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing, obtained before hire or job transfer.
Nice To Haves
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) credential.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients using appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
- Recommend, participate in, and help ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of patient care.
- Accept patient referrals from other physicians.
- Act as an admitting, attending, and/or consulting physician for patients requiring hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on patient, medical staff, and hospital needs.
- Participate in academic programs, such as medical education and research, as requested.
- Provide documentation meeting insurance company requirements and appeal denials in a timely manner.
- Participate in inpatient and outpatient specialty consultation, which may include on-call schedules.
