About The Position

Valdese Weavers is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company that has been in business for over 100 years and designs and manufactures residential and contract-grade fabrics. The Novelty Twist Operator operates a Novelty machine to produce decorative yarn and meets deadlines and production quotas. Duties are performed in accordance with ISO 9001 work instructions and standards. The posted schedule is 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on A shift. The posting also notes a $1.00 shift premium for second- and third-shift work and a $50 attendance bonus for each eligible two-week period with no absences, excluding shutdown periods; it states that this bonus would add $0.62 to the hourly rate.

Requirements

• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
• Ability to detect color changes.
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.

Responsibilities

• Order yarn from other departments as needed.
• Operate the Novelty machine.
• Change the yarn creels used by the Novelty machine.
• Monitor Novelty machines to ensure product quality.
• Work scheduled overtime.
• Maintain attendance practices that meet company goals and keep the attendance-points balance at 5 or below.
• Maintain work habits suited to the demands and stresses of the job.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.
• Perform duties safely according to company guidelines; promptly report work-related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor.
• Participate in safety programs to identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards.
• Use hearing protection in high-noise areas and other personal protective equipment as needed.
• Maintain 5S standards.
