ATDM Nondestructive Testing Lab Technician - 3rd Shift
About The Position
This position requires eligibility to access controlled unclassified and other regulated technical information in accordance with applicable federal requirements. This role is not eligible for remote work and will be based onsite in Danville, Virginia. The position requires flexibility to work any shift as program needs evolve, with compensation including a shift differential based on assigned instructional hours. This specific role will support training on the third shift. The work environment is a laboratory and shop setting with adherence to safety protocols. The ATDM program offers a fast-paced, hands-on training environment where your work directly supports student success and regional economic impact. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Knowledge of shop safety practices
- Technical math skills, including trigonometry
- Working knowledge of NDT methods: Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Radiation safety
- Microsoft Office and general computer skills
- Comfort using technology in an instructional or training environment and a willingness to learn new tools
Responsibilities
- Support NDT instructors during lab-based instruction for the ATDM program
- Assist students in the lab with proper use of equipment, materials, and processes
- Prepare labs for instruction, including setup and teardown
- Maintain inventory of materials, tools, and equipment
- Monitor and restock consumables as needed
- Follow and reinforce shop safety and radiation safety practices
- Provide general operational and logistical support for the ATDM program
- Travel occasionally, as required
