About The Position

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology at the University of South Alabama Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine is seeking a board certified or board eligible noninvasive cardiologist to join a collaborative team of academic cardiologists. The successful candidate will participate in clinical care and medical education, with opportunities for research, faculty development, and mentorship. Level of appointment is open and will be commensurate with experience and academic productivity.

Requirements

• Board certified or board eligible in Cardiovascular Disease.
• Level II training in echocardiography.

Nice To Haves

• Level II training in Nuclear Cardiology.
• Level II training in transesophageal echocardiography.
• Experience in peripheral vascular imaging.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight of the noninvasive cardiology laboratory, including stress testing with or without imaging, electrocardiograms, ambulatory ECG monitoring, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, and elective cardioversion.
• Provide outpatient cardiology clinic coverage for a broad patient referral base and supervise cardiology fellows in the outpatient setting.
• Educate medical students, residents, and fellows through ACGME accredited Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residency programs and the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship, including teaching on inpatient services and in the Heart Center.
• Collaborate with physicians, trainees, advanced practice providers, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including collaborative cardiovascular and heart failure quality programs.
