About The Position

Position responsible for performing Electrocardiograms, Holter monitoring, Holter scanning and Stress Testing according to physician orders. The role involves preparing patients for these exams, explaining procedures, and ensuring technical quality. The technician will manage multi-patient task lists, prioritize appropriately, and report any issues to supervisors. They will also respond to Code Blue calls as part of the resuscitation team, prepare ECG tracings for physician interpretation, and alert medical personnel to serious arrhythmias. Maintaining safety, environmental, and infection control procedures is crucial. The position requires excellent customer service skills, participation in performance improvement activities, and adherence to all Memorial Hermann policies and standards. The role also involves promoting professional growth and demonstrating a commitment to providing compassionate and personalized experiences.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED
  • Completion of the Basic Arrhythmia Course.
  • Certified by the American Hospital Association in BCLS.
  • Six (6) months of experience preferred performing Electrocardiograms (ECG), Holter monitoring, Holter scanning and related Cardiac Stress Testing procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for Electrocardiogram, Holter monitor, and/or Stress Test exams and explains procedure and ensures technical quality.
  • Manages multi-patient task list and prioritizes appropriately.
  • Reports any accidents, complaints or equipment malfunction to the supervisor/manager.
  • Responds to all Code Blue calls as part of the resuscitation team per facility requirements.
  • Prepares and presents ECG tracings to physicians for interpretation as per hospital process.
  • Reviews ECG tracing and alerts proper medical personnel of patients with serious arrhythmias.
  • Maintains safety, environmental, and infection control procedures for the department.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills and escalates issues appropriately.
  • Serves as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities established by the department.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual & professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competencies; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization.
