Non- Certified Sterile Processing Tech
About The Position
The Non-Certified Sterile Processing Tech works in Sterile Processing Services at High Point Medical Center. The position operates department machinery, decontaminates and inspects instruments, assembles and packages instruments, performs and documents sterilization, stores sterile containers, and prepares and delivers operating room case carts. The role participates in the department’s weekday surge plan and weekend call, supports other team members, and follows infection-prevention policies to protect staff and the facility. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a schedule of 3 to 11 pm and holidays and weekend call.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to operate equipment such as steam sterilizers, low-temperature sterilizers, ultrasonic washers, and washer decontaminators.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Proficient communication skills.
- Knowledge of instrument tracking software.
Responsibilities
- Operate department machinery and promptly report issues to the Instrument Processing Supervisor or Lead Instrument Technician.
- Perform manual and/or automated decontamination of instruments.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness and proper functionality.
- Assemble instruments into containers according to count sheets.
- Package instruments according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Perform sterilization and verify the adequacy of the sterilization process.
- Maintain documentation of sterilization processes.
- Store sterile containers in the identified location.
- Assemble case carts according to the picklist and deliver them to the OR.
- Participate in the department’s weekday surge plan and weekend call.
- Assist other team members as needed.
- Follow policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood-borne and airborne contaminants or diseases.
