About The Position

Apple’s Acoustics team works to ensure customers can enjoy music, communicate clearly, and use products without unwanted noise. The Noise & Vibration intern will contribute to the design and implementation of test methodologies to identify and reduce unwanted acoustic noise in industry-leading consumer electronic devices. The role involves a specific noise and vibration reduction project and close communication with design and cross-functional teams, including teams in other countries. The intern will be based in Shanghai, with some travel among sites in the Shanghai and Shenzhen regions.

Requirements

  • MS, PhD, or equivalent; preferably a student in the final year of study.
  • Specialization in Acoustics, Mechanics, or Electrical Engineering, with a major in acoustics or vibration and relevant electronics experience.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin, including the ability to discuss technical concepts in both languages.
  • Strong theoretical and experimental background in acoustics and vibration, or magnetic interaction.
  • Solid testing and data-analysis skills.
  • Experience with acoustic testing equipment such as chambers and microphones.
  • Comfort with MATLAB and Python, and the ability to learn new scripting skills.
  • Ability to contribute effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing, multitasking environment.
  • Flexibility in problem-solving approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and write test plans and standard operating procedures for acoustic testing in laboratory environments.
