About The Position

The Night Patroller drives a predetermined route around Salem and South Portland to locate and report sign and lighting outages and other service issues. The role documents findings with photographs and written details, locates issues on area maps, estimates their size and characteristics, and communicates reports to supervisors and other relevant departments, store managers, or owners. The employee plans routes to survey the assigned area efficiently and maintains records and logbooks. When provided with a YESCO company vehicle, the employee performs cleaning, preventative, and operator maintenance. The position also assists the Night Patrol Supervisor, prepares maps to help technicians and contractors locate outages, delivers parts, and performs other assigned duties. It involves daily interaction with supervisors and service and sales employees in the field and office to discuss observations, possible sales or service leads, and service issues. Work is performed in a company-owned or personal vehicle; mileage is paid when an employee uses their own vehicle.

Requirements

Less than high school education, or up to one month of related sign project experience or training; an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may also qualify.
A state-issued driver's license in good standing.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to drive an automobile.
Ability to communicate in person.
Ability to see from a distance.

Responsibilities

Drive an automobile along a predetermined route to survey sign and lighting repair and service needs.
Document outages by taking photographs and recording details according to established procedures.
Locate signs on an area map and determine the location and address of sign or lighting outages and service issues.
Estimate the size and characteristics of outages or service issues and report findings to a supervisor.
Relay information to relevant departments, store managers, and/or owners.
Plan routes to survey the assigned geographic area fully and use time efficiently.
Maintain records and logbooks.
Clean and perform preventative and operator maintenance on YESCO company vehicles when provided.
Assist the Night Patrol Supervisor with duties.
Draw maps to help technicians and contractors locate outages.
Deliver parts.
Perform other functions as necessary or assigned.
