About The Position

The Night Custodian performs cleaning services throughout Iona University, including bathrooms, offices, classrooms, auditoriums, gymnasiums, and dormitories. The role includes routine cleaning and floor care, disposing of garbage and recyclables, reporting building issues to a supervisor, and assisting the snow removal department when needed. Overtime may be required. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Possess some knowledge of cleaning procedures and cleaning agents.
• Valid driver's license.
• High school diploma or equivalent is listed in the job details as the education level; the qualifications section says a high school diploma is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned areas, including bathrooms, offices, classrooms, auditoriums, gymnasiums, and dormitories.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, and dust assigned areas.
• Climb a ladder to clean windows and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Collect and dispose of garbage and recyclables from trash containers, bringing them to designated areas.
• Sweep, mop, strip, and buff hardwood floors as needed.
• Report faulty building functions, including issues with lights, doors, locks, and bathroom fixtures, to a supervisor.
• Assist the snow removal department when needed.
• Perform other duties as requested.
