About The Position

The Custodian performs general labor to care for and clean school buildings and grounds at the Pendleton Early Learning Center. The role uses district-approved methods, materials, and equipment to maintain assigned buildings, grounds, and equipment at or above district cleanliness standards. The position is full-time, with hours from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, and is open until filled. A valid Oregon driver’s license and high school diploma are required. The salary range is $21.26 to $32.99 per hour, depending on experience. The position also involves minor maintenance, care of assigned school supplies, completion of required reports and inspections, and following safe work practices. The employee must maintain the physical conditioning needed for custodial duties and demonstrate appropriate conduct when working around children. The role has no supervisory responsibilities and reports to the Facilities Manager.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Valid Oregon driver’s license.
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.
Ability to communicate fluently in English verbally and in writing.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and government regulations.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts and apply basic algebra, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to follow written, oral, schedule, or diagram instructions and solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
General knowledge of computer use and ability to use email and word-processing software.
Interpersonal skills including working well with others, resolving conflict, maintaining confidentiality, listening without interrupting, managing emotions, and contributing to positive team spirit.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including regularly lifting or moving up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.

Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred.
