About The Position

The Heritage Community is hiring a Night Coach for its Spark Academy program to work during the graveyard shift. The role suits someone who can work independently while contributing as a team member and who can remain alert and attentive to maintain a positive, safe milieu for students. The Heritage Community is a nonprofit treatment program for adolescents founded in 1984, and it offers competitive pay, benefits, and training opportunities. The position is available part time or full time. Part-time employees work three shifts per week; full-time employees work four to five shifts per week. Shifts run from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with Saturday night shifts ending at 8:00 AM. Schedules are coordinated upon hire. The workplace is smoke- and vape-free. New hires must successfully complete a background check, which may include verification of employment history, education, and criminal records.

Requirements

Ability to stay awake, alert, and attentive during the night and energetic in the morning to assist students.
Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor adolescents successfully.
Assertiveness to learn and continually enhance knowledge and understanding of mental health.
Good energy and ability to work in all weather conditions.
Engaging and empathetic character, balanced with tenacity and determination.
Good problem-solving, decisiveness, and teamwork skills.
Proficient communication and interpersonal-relationship skills.
Successful completion of a required background check.

Responsibilities

Supervise students during the night and provide a safe, secure, and caregiving environment.
Use mediation and intervention techniques to redirect students who wake during the night and need support and guidance during escalated moments.
Wake students in the morning and supervise them during their initial morning tasks.
Complete all paperwork and documentation requirements effectively.
