About The Position

The Night Auditor plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel during overnight hours by combining exceptional guest service with accurate financial and administrative responsibilities. As the primary hotel representative overnight, this position is responsible for delivering personalized guest experiences, maintaining security and operational continuity, and completing all nightly accounting and audit functions. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of balancing luxury guest service with financial accuracy. The Night Auditor serves as a key resource for guests and team members while upholding Palm House service standards and ensuring the integrity of daily hotel operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Front Desk, Guest Services, Night Audit, or hospitality experience required.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately and efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and hotel management software.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to eight (8) hours per shift.
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods while completing audit functions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds when assisting guests or operational needs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as necessary.
  • Manual dexterity required to operate computers, telephones, and office equipment.
  • Ability to remain alert, attentive, and productive throughout overnight shifts

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous luxury hotel, resort, or upscale hospitality experience preferred.
  • Experience with hotel property management systems (PMS) and financial reporting systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm, welcoming, and professional experience for guests during overnight hours.
  • Perform guest check-in and check-out procedures accurately and efficiently.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests, concerns, and emergencies while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Anticipate guest needs and provide personalized service consistent with luxury hospitality standards.
  • Resolve guest issues independently whenever possible and escalate concerns appropriately when necessary.
  • Ensure all guest interactions reflect the service culture and standards of Palm House.
  • Manage all overnight Front Desk activities, including arrivals, departures, room assignments, billing inquiries, and guest requests.
  • Verify reservation details, payment methods, and guest information.
  • Process room changes, extensions, upgrades, and special accommodations as needed.
  • Maintain accurate guest records and ensure confidentiality of guest information.
  • Monitor lobby activity and maintain a professional and welcoming environment throughout the shift.
  • Complete the nightly audit process in accordance with hotel policies and procedures.
  • Balance and reconcile all guest accounts, room charges, payments, and revenue transactions.
  • Review and verify daily financial reports for accuracy.
  • Prepare and distribute required operational and financial reports to management.
  • Post room and tax charges and ensure all revenue is accurately recorded.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to guest accounts and financial transactions.
  • Ensure proper cash handling and balancing procedures are followed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for overnight hotel operations.
  • Monitor hotel activity and report safety, security, or maintenance concerns.
  • Coordinate with Security and Engineering teams as necessary to ensure guest and property safety.
  • Follow emergency procedures and respond appropriately to incidents that may occur during overnight hours.
  • Maintain awareness of all guests, visitors, and vendors entering the property during the shift.
  • Maintain clear and detailed shift notes for Front Office leadership and other departments.
  • Communicate guest requests, maintenance concerns, VIP arrivals, and operational issues to appropriate departments.
  • Collaborate with Housekeeping, Engineering, Security, and other operational teams to ensure seamless guest experiences.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and ongoing development opportunities.
  • Consistently uphold Forbes Travel Guide and Palm House luxury service standards.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, attention to detail, and a commitment to guest satisfaction.
  • Deliver thoughtful, anticipatory service while maintaining efficiency and accuracy.
