About The Position

This position involves performing infant developmental assessments and developmental feeding assessments, making recommendations for interventions, and providing ongoing support and treatment for high-risk neonates in NICU and Special Care Nursery settings. The role also includes counseling and educating parents/caregivers on their infant’s developmental status and family adaptation to children with disabilities, as well as recommending appropriate developmental follow-up services upon hospital discharge.

Requirements

Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy from accredited school or equivalent.
Current license to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills and ability to work cooperatively with all members of the health care team.
Proficiency with Microsoft office products.

Nice To Haves

Neonatal Therapy Certification (CNT)
Minimum of one year NICU experience.
Infant Driven Feeding program experience.
Orthopedic splinting skills.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive evaluative, consultative and direct patient care services to high-risk infants utilizing an integrated model of care.
Collaborate with the neonatal team and parents/caregivers to develop individualized care plans and implement interventions that address the identified developmental needs of the infant.
Provide ongoing education to parents/caregivers to address the specific needs of the infant as well as parents/caregivers.
Participate in onsite designated program development in alignment with NICU objectives as directed.
Identify appropriate referrals for follow-up services prior to discharge to promote continuity of care with community based developmental services.
