About The Position

This position is for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in a Rheumatology Clinic, working a 40-hour day shift schedule. The LPN performs selected and delegated nursing tasks, including patient physical assessments, administering medications and treatments as ordered by a provider, and participating in patient/family education plans.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Current Massachusetts licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Knowledge of basic nursing procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements, unless certification, licensure or registration is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and obtains a patient's basic health status, records, and related data according to standard procedure and needs of patient and their families.
  • Administers medications, performs treatment as ordered, and operates equipment according to policy and procedure.
  • Performs venipuncture using aseptic technique, 12 lead EKGs, and administers vaccinations.
  • Participates in implementation and evaluation of care plan including long and short-term goals, nursing actions, and teaching.
  • Documents patient care according to standard procedure.
  • Records and reports observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient condition to Provider and/or RN and assists in analyzing and interpreting patient data.
  • Assists provider with treatments, procedures, and special tests as or directed.
  • Communicates with patients via electronic, telephonic, and in person, per scope of practice.
  • Collaborates with other health care providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.
  • Maintains a safe environment.
  • Complies with established departmental policies, procedures.
  • Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as or directed.
  • Participates in the use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
  • Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
  • Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
  • Maintains regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as or directed.
