About The Position

The Nonferrous Weighmaster is the primary point of contact for customers and is responsible for accurately weighing and sorting nonferrous metals, as well as completing documentation for received materials and payments. This is a fast-paced role requiring customer service, communication, and coordination skills. The position may involve working outdoors in varying weather conditions and follows SA Recycling’s Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to learn and identify various types of ferrous and nonferrous materials.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must pass a credit and background check.
• Must pass a drug screen.
• Applicants in the United States must be at least 18 years old.
• Satisfactory completion of a post-offer drug screen, physical exam, and background check; a credit check applies if specified for the position.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience as a weighmaster is preferred but not required.
• One year of heavy customer service experience in the scrap metal or a similar industry is preferred.
• Bilingual English and Spanish language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and courteously weigh nonferrous metals brought in by suppliers, in accordance with company policies, procedures, and state guidelines.
• Sort and weigh inbound scrap materials from individual customers.
• Enter scrap material and customer information into the ticketing system.
• Provide customers with accurate receipts for scrap materials delivered.
• Educate, inform, and assist customers with documentation required for acceptance of scrap materials.
• Complete and submit required reports in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Perform basic housekeeping in the scale house and customer areas to maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Work with the general public.
