WUNC – News, the public radio station licensed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is hiring a digital intern for its Youth Reporting Institute. This paid position offers flexible hours, up to 16 per week, with a pay rate of $18/hour. The role is primarily in-person, with potential for hybrid/remote work. A computer will be provided. The internship is expected to begin in mid-August and conclude at the end of the year. Interns will engage in skills workshops alongside other WUNC Youth Reporting Interns and are expected to present at a showcase event in early December (likely December 3 or December 10, 2026). This opportunity is open to currently enrolled college students and recent graduates. Interns will be integrated into WUNC’s News department, focusing mainly on the daily news team. Their duties will include writing and producing audio and digital stories for daily broadcast newscasts and digital platforms. Opportunities to develop feature stories may arise based on available time. Additionally, interns might assist with administrative tasks or other assigned duties. Students are encouraged to commit one to two full days per week during preferred regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.).
