WUNC – News, the public radio station licensed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is seeking a digital intern for its Youth Reporting Institute. This paid internship offers flexible hours, up to 16 per week, at a rate of $18/hour. The position is primarily in-person, with potential for hybrid/remote work, and a computer will be provided. The internship is expected to begin in mid-August and conclude at the end of the year. Interns will engage in skills workshops with other WUNC Youth Reporting Interns and are expected to present at a showcase event in early December (likely December 3 or December 10, 2026). This opportunity is open to currently enrolled college students and recent graduates. The Digital Internship will operate within WUNC’s Digital Content Department, focusing on the digital news team. Interns will gain experience with the WUNC content management system (Grove) and learn the daily operations of a newsroom. Responsibilities include supporting digital producers, performing web copy editing, and posting content to the WUNC website and social media channels. Additionally, interns will learn to develop and report digital-first stories, which involves creating written content, sourcing or capturing photos and other visual elements, and producing social media content for WUNC's Instagram and YouTube accounts, including vertical videos and Instagram carousel posts.
