About The Position

WLKY, the CBS affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky, is seeking a Local News Producer who can create meaningful and memorable newscasts. The role calls for creativity, strong news judgment, decisive planning, and clear, concise communication. The successful candidate will have a record of covering major stories, breaking news, and weather, along with excellent writing and storytelling skills. They must thrive in a fast-paced, changing newsroom, work quickly under deadlines, and remain calm under pressure. The position requires availability for nights, weekends, overnights, holidays, and schedule flexibility during breaking news.

Requirements

Professional or college producing experience.
Experience working in a newsroom.
Strong writing and copy-editing skills.
Ability to coordinate several crews and responsibilities simultaneously.
Experience summarizing information into easy-to-understand components.
Creative presentation style and ability to showcase available resources and elements.
Highest journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
Availability to work holidays, nights, weekends, and overnights, and flexibility to be available during breaking news.
Related military experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

Select, research, and write content for live newscasts to create an engaging experience for viewers.
Work with and guide reporters in story production.
Coordinate the creative vision with anchors, reporters, meteorologists, photographers, editors, and production staff.
Booth assigned newscasts and breaking news and weather events.
Time live newscasts.
Assist with digital production by writing and sharing content.
