About The Position

WXXV-TV, an NBC and FOX station in Gulfport/Biloxi, Mississippi, is hiring a full-time Newscast Producer. The station broadcasts seven hours of news on weekdays and an hour and a half on Sunday nights, including South Mississippi’s only 9 PM newscast and the market’s only four-hour morning newscast. The position offers paid vacation and benefits are available. The producer creates news rundowns and works on news writing and editing. The role requires willingness to work mornings, nights, and weekends as assigned, and to fill in on other shifts when other producers are unavailable. The ideal candidate builds strong relationships with colleagues and community members, welcomes critiques and regular coaching, and actively seeks stories and content to enhance newscasts beyond the local stories gathered by reporters. WXXV-TV is located in Gulfport, Mississippi, about a one-hour drive from New Orleans. Requirements

Strong news writing and editing skills.
Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and Edius non-linear editing software.
Ability to stay organized and work under time-pressure deadlines.
Willingness to work mornings, nights, and weekends as assigned and fill in on other shifts.
Willingness to build strong relationships with colleagues and community members and to accept critiques and coaching.
A DMV and criminal background check is a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

A BA/BS in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
ENPS and non-linear video editing experience are preferred.
Passion for news and journalism and a mindset of constant growth.
