About The Position

WKRC is seeking a detail-oriented, aggressive, energetic, and creative full-time News Assignment Editor. The role supports efficient assignment-desk operations by identifying and developing daily content, assigning and tracking news crews, and responding to breaking and developing news. The editor also writes and posts content to the station website and social media, develops and maintains contacts and sources to generate story ideas, and monitors scanners, websites, and social media.

Requirements

• Commitment to journalistic standards of ethics and accuracy.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Basic computer knowledge and word-processing skills.
• General knowledge of and interest in local, national, and world news.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter, and emerging social media platforms.

Nice To Haves

• A bachelor's degree with a major in journalism is preferred.

Responsibilities
