About The Position

WKRC is seeking a detail-oriented, energetic, aggressive, and creative full-time News Assignment Editor. The position supports the assignment desk by assigning and tracking news crews, identifying and developing daily content, responding to breaking and developing news, and writing and posting content to the station’s website and social media. The role also involves building contacts and sources to generate story ideas and helping ensure the efficient operation of the assignment desk. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to journalistic ethics and accuracy, communicate effectively, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines. Basic computer and word-processing skills, knowledge of local, national, and international news, and proficiency with Facebook, Twitter, and emerging social media platforms are required. A bachelor’s degree with a journalism major is preferred.
