Caterpillar's Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division focuses on delivering advanced electrified powertrains, zero-emissions products/technologies, and associated solutions and services. This includes batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, microgrid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services, and component integration for ePowertrain solutions across industries. Requirements

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Working knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
  • Expert understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of the policies and techniques to manage a set of related projects within a program; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control the set of projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve program objectives.
  • Bachelor’s degree plus applicable experience.
  • Experience with complex charging and power conversion products.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Technology Introduction (NTI); familiarity with New Service Introduction (NSI), Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Experience with change, risk, and issue management.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other business units, customers, and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams to create reliable and cost-effective Power Conversion products for RI, CI, and E&T verticals.
  • Create relationships across the value stream to meet end customer needs in charging, power conversion, and energy storage applications.
  • Manage multiple New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI), New Service Introduction (NSI), and Small Batch projects across various machine platforms and site solutions.
  • Deploy new solutions into production, managing supply chain issues, quality concerns, and other program maintenance activities.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and build trust with diverse stakeholders including E&E stakeholders, vertical stakeholders, peers, and technical leaders.
  • Understand product development processes: NPI, NTI, and E&ES bespoke Small Batch process.
  • Utilize business resource processes and applications to inform product decisions.
  • Collaborate with Chief Engineers and Technical Managers on transitioning NTI projects to NPI projects.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Team to meet customer needs.
  • Lead NPI projects from launch through gateway 7, ensuring all requirements (technical, quality, cost, timeline) are met.
  • Contribute to defining product design, processes, standards, or operational plans based on business strategy.
  • Develop and maintain project plans and schedules in collaboration with E+ES functional areas (product support, life cycle management, engineering, purchasing, validation) and product group teams.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Oversee project execution, including schedule, cost, and performance; communicate status to stakeholders and functional partners; proactively identify, escalate, and resolve issues.
  • Work closely with L5 technical leads and product group partners.
  • Influence project staffing decisions; motivate, coach, and develop project teams.
  • Communicate with customers to manage expectations.
  • Ensure effective use of project controls and reporting mechanisms.
  • Manage conflict resolution through negotiation and managing teams and projects through roadblocks.
