About The Position

The New Patient Liaison performs intake for new patient referrals from multiple sources for Tennessee Oncology clinics. The role includes triaging diagnosis severity, scheduling and communicating with patients about intake, retrieving records, communicating with referring physicians, and arranging the first appointment. The liaison also supports a positive patient experience while protecting confidential patient information and following Tennessee Oncology policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Advanced PC skills, including demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to travel to other clinics when necessary.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Promote positive customer relations.
• Maintain and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
• Exhibit initiative, judgment, and discretion.
• Promote high ethical standards.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Adhere to Tennessee Oncology policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in healthcare or customer service.
• Experience with an electronic medical record (EMR).

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming new patient calls and enter demographic and insurance pre-registration information.
• Maintain contact with new patients through methods such as mailing new patient packets, electronic communication, email, and callbacks.
• Request, collect, document, and assess appropriate records to ensure patients are scheduled properly and necessary records are available for evaluation in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Ensure referring physicians receive communication regarding the new patient visit.
• Communicate with outside entities to obtain new patient medical history records when appropriate.
• Communicate with team members, clinic staff, and referring provider offices.
• Coordinate with clinic staff to schedule new patient appointments.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
