About The Position

Timmons Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Project Engineer I candidate for their Richmond, VA office's Transportation Design group. This role is an entry-level position for individuals ready to start their civil engineering career with a company that emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s or master's degree in civil engineering or a closely related degree with coursework in transportation/traffic preferred
• EIT preferred
• Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoDesk Civil 3D (preferred)
• Familiarity with VDOT standards and procedures (preferred)
• High energy, creative, flexible, patient, self-starters who are willing to work at a dynamic pace

Responsibilities

• Design horizontal alignments and vertical profiles for roadway widening and improvement projects
• Develop 3D models and plans using AutoDesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer
• Create visualizations for client and public presentations using 3D software
• Prepare detailed plan sheets and complete project submission packages
• Perform roadway and drainage calculations using engineering software and reference materials
• Assist in preparing engineering and construction cost estimates
• Research and utilize open-source GIS data for project planning
• Conduct field observations and data collection to support design discussions
• Stay current with emerging technologies to enhance team capabilities
• Participate in client and contractor meetings to support project delivery
