New Graduate RN Residency, Intensive Care Unit (36 hours, shifts vary depending on unit availability) Boston Medical Center Brighton has developed a comprehensive new graduate nurse transition to practice program incorporating the Nurse of the Future Nursing Core Competencies. New graduate nurses are hired into the institution in cohorts, and progress through nursing orientation together. New Graduates can expect individualized education with preceptors on their units, further enhanced with a series of educational days over the course of the residency, fostering opportunity for mentorship, comradery, and experiential learning. The preferred candidate has graduated from nursing school within twelve (12) months before their date of hire. . Also, the role is designated for nurses who encompasses nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and their families across the health care continuum. The registered nurse is accountable for clinical, educational, quality, and fiscal patient care outcomes using the model of care designed by the nursing department and following established agency policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and standards of practice. Reports to the Unit Nurse Manager. ABOUT OUR UNIT: Multi-Specialty ICU : 28 MICU/ SICU/CCU/CTICU/neuro ICU beds Nurses are trained to take care of any medical, surgical, neurology, cardiology and cardiothoracic patients, gaining knowledge and skills in all specialties. CT Surgery Recognition : BMC Brighton has been named the best hospital for cardiac surgery in Massachusetts in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an associate’s degree or Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN).
  • Active BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Graduated from nursing school within twelve (12) months before their date of hire.

  • 2 letters of Recommendation (preferably from Managers and/or Instructors)
  • Letter of Intent
  • Relevant clinical experience, such as senior practicum in ICU or ED/ICU technician experience

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Candidates who do not have a BSN must enroll in a Baccalaureate program one year from date of hire and must complete their BSN by the end of the semester in which the four-year anniversary of employment at BMC occurs.
