About The Position

This role is for a neuropsychologist looking to make a significant impact with an underserved population in skilled nursing facilities. The position involves conducting bedside evaluations, diagnosing and treating individuals with serious mental illness, cognitive decline, neuropsychiatric conditions, medical complexity, disability, trauma, grief, identity loss, and profound transitions. The neuropsychologist will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, nursing staff, social services, and facility leadership, to improve resident quality of life, prevent hospitalizations, and reduce behavioral crises. The work is described as meaningful, varied, and grounded in clinical best practices, with a focus on restoring dignity to residents who may feel forgotten. Executive Mental Health (EMH) has been providing clinically practical, human-centered work in skilled nursing facilities for 30 years, addressing the growing demand for specialized neuropsychological care in this setting.

Requirements

  • Hold a PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology with specialty training in neuropsychology (two-year fellowship program in neuropsychology strongly recommended)
  • Licensed in California
  • Medicare-eligible (assistance with credentialing and paneling provided)
  • Value evidence-based practice and clinical flexibility
  • Comfortable working with complexity and ambiguity
  • Desire autonomy without isolation, and support without micromanagement
  • Curiosity, compassion, and the ability to see the person behind the chart

  • Prior experience in skilled nursing facilities is not required

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat individuals in skilled nursing facilities
  • Manage an active caseload with support from your clinical manager and administrative team
  • Collaborate closely with facility staff, offering consultation, guidance, and in-services
  • Complete documentation aligned with medical necessity and Medicare standards
  • Provide care by meeting residents where they reside, in skilled nursing facilities
