About The Position

This role involves providing care appropriate to the age of patients served, demonstrating knowledge of their physical and psychological needs. The technician will perform various EEG tests, including Routine, Long-term/Continuous, Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, and Ambulatory. They will also perform second modalities such as NCS/EMG, IONM, Autonomics, and/or EPs. Responsibilities include maintaining logs and records, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, monitoring and communicating changes, and performing clerical duties like scheduling and patient charging. The role also emphasizes shaping a culture of teamwork, positive morale, and customer service, investigating and resolving complaints, and supporting the orientation and evaluation of new trainees and employees.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent Required
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in related field.
  • Must have college level neuroanatomy knowledge
  • Competency in medical terminology
  • Must be able to perform all neurophysiology lab testing modalities
  • Must be able to work independently, recognize problems and take the initiative to resolve them
  • Must be able to work well with external customers of all ages (birth to geriatric)
  • Must act as a team builder by demonstrating leadership and handling change effectively
  • Must be a model for Always Behaviors by treating all external customers (patients, families and visitors) and internal customers (immediate colleagues, physicians, administration, medical and administrative director, medical, clinical and ancillary staff throughout the organization)
  • Must have strong communication, written and verbal skills
  • Registered in one or more - R.EEG T, CLTM, CNIM, R.NCS.T., R.EPT: Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG T) - ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (ABRET), OR Registered in either EEG or EP, OR Certified Neurological Intraoperative Monitoring Technologist (CNIM) - ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (ABRET)
  • Required CPR or BLS - American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Certification is Required

  • Certification as CNIM is desirable by the end of 2nd year of employment

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
  • Performs EEG testing, including Routine, Long-term/Continuous, Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, Ambulatory, along with second modality of NCS/EMG, IONM, Autonomics, and/or EPs on patients according to established guidelines.
  • Maintains a variety of logs and records.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as The Joint Commission, ACNS, ABRET, ASET, and NAEC.
  • Effectively monitors and communicates changes to management and staff.
  • Performs related clerical duties such as scheduling patients, answering telephones, taking and relaying messages, completing patient charges or bills, filing records, etc. as instructed and needed.
  • Shapes a culture of teamwork, positive morale and customer service demonstrated by excellent patient satisfaction and employee satisfaction scores.
  • Investigates, documents and resolves complaints or incidents concerning patients, visitors, physicians and staff, and notifies the manager of those with sensitive nature.
  • Supports with interviews and orientation for new trainees/employees/students, and supports in evaluation of performances when asked.
