About The Position
The Neurophysiology Associate supports intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IOM) services across both the Operating Room and outpatient settings. This role performs standard neurodiagnostic procedures—including nerve conduction studies and evoked potentials—while working under the direct supervision of experienced neurophysiology staff and attending neurologists. As an integral member of the surgical team, the Neurophysiology Associate collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and clinical staff to ensure patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or higher
- Experience in a healthcare setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operating room environment
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Neuroscience, Biological Sciences, or related field
- Graduate of an ABRET-recognized NIOM program
Responsibilities
- Perform intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IOM) procedures under supervision
- Assist with case setup, signal acquisition, and waveform interpretation
- Apply and maintain electrodes while ensuring patient safety and skin integrity
- Troubleshoot equipment and technical issues in real time
- Maintain compliance with electrical safety and infection control standards
- Communicate findings promptly to supervising neurologists and surgical teams
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary clinical teams
- Provide clear explanations and compassionate support to patients and families
- Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and educational sessions
- Participate in ongoing training, education, and competency development
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to HIPAA standards
- Support quality improvement initiatives and departmental goals
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and accountability in all responsibilities
