About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Neurophysiology Tech I assists in performing various Neurophysiology procedures to aid in diagnosing and treating nerve and brain disorders. Key responsibilities include recording and identifying Neurophysiology data. After supervised orientation, the tech will obtain patient history, attach patient electrodes, and operate Neurophysiology equipment, observing studies, analyzing wave graphs, documenting disorders and artifacts, and adjusting settings. The role involves caring for all age groups, preparing patients for studies, and completing post-study paperwork. Adherence to hospital/departmental guidelines, participation in educational and departmental meetings, and a willingness to acquire new skills under the direction of physicians, nurse practitioners, managers, and technologists (including in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) are essential. The tech also helps maintain equipment, reports needed repairs, and ensures a clean environment for equipment and workspaces. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • No experience required
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire
  • Ability to provide outstanding patient care
  • Some general knowledge of physiology
  • Cognitive and psychomotor skills required
  • Good verbal and written communication skills that allow relaying of information in a clear, concise, and calm manner
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff and physicians
  • Basic knowledge of computers

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the performance of a variety of Neurophysiology procedures that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of nerve and brain disorders.
  • Records and identifies various Neurophysiology data in various settings.
  • Obtains patient history, attaches patient electrodes and operates Neurophysiology equipment, during operation of equipment observe studies, analyzes wave graphs, makes documentations to indicate disorders, artifact, and responsible for settings adjustments (after supervised orientation).
  • Cares for all age groups.
  • Sets-up and prepares patients for Neurophysiology studies.
  • Completes post study paperwork used to maintain patients files.
  • Adheres to hospital / departmental guidelines and judgment during patient care.
  • Attends and participates in educational, departmental, and required meetings.
  • Observes Neurophysiology data, and is willing to acquire new skills under direction of physicians, Nurse practitioner, manager, and technologists, including not limited to Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
  • Participates in maintaining equipment and reports needed repairs to manager.
  • Maintains clean environment including but not limited to equipment and workspaces.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
