About The Position

The Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a neuromuscular neurologist to join their growing team. This position requires work to be completed onsite. Applicants will be considered for Clinical Assistant Professor (CT), Clinical Associate Professor (CT), or Clinical Professor (CT), with the final title determined by experience and qualifications. This role involves a dual appointment with UW Madison and UW Medical Foundation. It is a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations, requiring a caregiver check. The position is being advertised concurrently with another posting to consider candidates with both CHS and CT track credentials.

Requirements

  • Completion of a neurology residency program.
  • Neuromuscular fellowship or equivalent experience.
  • Board eligible or board certified in either the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP).
  • Must possess a WI medical license by the start date.
  • MD or DO or equivalent degree is required by the start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Training in muscle/nerve pathology is desirable.
  • For appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CT or CHS track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outpatient and inpatient clinical activities at UW Hospital and Clinics, VA Hospital, and/or other affiliated locations.
  • Perform weekly outpatient neuromuscular clinics, EMG clinics, and muscle/nerve biopsy activities.
  • Potentially participate in general neurology clinics and residency continuity clinic, based on department needs.
  • Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participate in professional, public, and university service appropriate to the rank.
  • Engage in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of the School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health.
  • Collaborate collegially with other faculty members.
  • In the Clinician Teacher (CT) Track, primary responsibility is patient care (90%), with clinical teaching expected. The remaining 10% is for research, teaching, and/or service.
  • If pursuing research, efforts may include clinical trials or collaborations with established researchers.
  • Teaching efforts are typically within the clinical practice, but other classroom opportunities exist.
