About The Position

The Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a neuromuscular neurologist to join their growing team. This position requires onsite work at a designated campus location. Applicants will be considered for Clinical Assistant Professor (CT), Clinical Associate Professor (CT), or Clinical Professor (CT), with the final title determined by the finalist's experience and qualifications. This role involves a dual appointment with UW Madison and UW Medical Foundation. It is classified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations, requiring an initial caregiver check and subsequent checks every four years. This posting is simultaneous with JR#10009835, and only one vacancy exists, allowing consideration for both CHS and CT track credentials.

Requirements

  • Completion of a neurology residency program.
  • Neuromuscular fellowship or equivalent experience.
  • Board eligible or board certified in American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP).
  • Must possess a WI medical license by the start date.
  • MD or DO or equivalent degree required by the start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Training in muscle/nerve pathology is desirable.
  • For appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CT or CHS track, candidates must meet criteria established by the department and outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outpatient and inpatient clinical activities at UW Hospital and Clinics, VA Hospital, and/or other affiliated locations.
  • Perform weekly outpatient neuromuscular clinics, EMG clinics, and muscle/nerve biopsy activities.
  • Potentially participate in general neurology clinics and residency continuity clinics based on department needs.
  • Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participate in professional, public, and university service appropriate to the rank.
  • Engage in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of the School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health.
  • Collaborate collegially with other faculty members.
  • In the Clinician Teacher (CT) Track, primary responsibility is patient care (90%), with clinical teaching expected. The remaining 10% is for research, teaching, and/or service.
  • If pursuing research, efforts may include clinical trials or collaborations with established researchers.
  • Teaching efforts are typically within clinical practice but may include other classroom opportunities.
