About The Position

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist I contributes to a positive and productive work environment by performing and processing quality Electroencephalogram (EEG) tracings, following all Health First, Hospital Division and departmental protocols in a professional manner.

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
  • Ability to take call for acknowledging emergency alerts within five (5) minutes and presenting to hospital within sixty (60) minutes of alert.
  • Maintains flexibility to adapt to changes in workflow processes and fluctuations in patient volumes and staffing needs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Knowledge in routine and critical care EEG.
  • Ability to test in all patient populations; neonatal, pediatric and adults.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Flexibility to meet variable shift and census needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Neurodiagnostic Specialty OR Graduate of Neurodiagnostic Technology Program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Education in Neurodiagnostic Technology (CoA-NDT) and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) OR Neurodiagnostic Technology On-The-Job training program accompanied by one (1) year experience in EEG.
  • One (1) year related experience.
  • Experience in other modalities of Neurodiagnostic testing including Nerve Conduction studies, Evoked Potentials or Transcranial Doppler studies.
  • Registered EEG Technologist by American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) within two (2) years of start date and maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Performs EEG studies appropriate to age and condition of patient according to lab protocols and standards.
  • Obtains information and evaluates the patient prior to the procedure by reviewing patient’s medical record.
  • Alerts Neurohospitalist and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team to the occurrence of non-convulsive and/or convulsive seizure activity.
  • Communicates effectively and respectfully with all patients, licensed practitioners, and Associates, including any delays to care team (nursing staff, Neurologist, and leadership).
  • Ensures compliance with American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) guidelines.
  • Comprehends anatomical correlation of EEG waveforms and distinguishes normal adult EEG waveforms, variants and artifactual activity in the EEG record.
  • Ensures all long-term monitoring EEGs are set up to maintain skin integrity at electrode sites.
