About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Neurocritical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) at a Level II trauma center. The role involves providing inpatient coverage in a 10-bed Neuro ICU. The position is a long-term permanent search, and the need is for 1 opening. The NP/PA will work 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM), with both day and night coverage required, averaging 14 shifts per month. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. The facility uses EPIC as its EMR system. Credentialing is expected to take 90 days.

Requirements

  • Active North Carolina licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Minimum 1-year Neurocritical Care experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in North Carolina OR Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in North Carolina
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
