About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking a Network Systems Engineer to support an Intelligence Community (IC) program. This role will provide network support to the customer’s various wide area networks (WANs) and local area networks (LANs), offering routing to an enterprise-level infrastructure across multiple classifications. The engineer will act as a subject matter expert in routing technologies across multiple vendors.

Requirements

  • Must have 16 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education (Doctorate and 8 years, Master’s and 10 years, Bachelor’s and 12 years, Associate’s and 14 years, or HS diploma and 16 years).
  • Must be compliant with DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
  • Technical knowledge of network infrastructure and hardware (such as routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking appliances).
  • Prior experience facilitating and leading meetings, such as readiness review gates.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as evidenced by delivering presentations, writing engineering documents, procedures, and other key artifacts used for the successful design, implementation, and maintenance of information systems.
  • Capable of multi-tasking, persuading others, and guiding teammates to overcome obstacles.
  • Attention to detail, quality of deliverables.
  • Working knowledge of Service Now or similar IT Service Management (ITSM) products.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio).
  • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Detail-oriented with problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering.
  • Demonstrated leadership in technical readiness reviews including System Requirements Review (SRR), Engineering Design Review (EDR), Technical Requirements Review (TRR), and Operational Readiness Review (ORR).
  • Engineering best practice knowledge such as International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE).
  • ITIL Foundations certification or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Provides systems analysis, documents requirements, and works with design, development, testing, deployment, and lifecycle support teams responsible for hardware systems and applications.
  • Develops end-to-end analysis for the enterprise, documents processes, key artifacts, and ensures systems comply with the enterprise technical architecture.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, cost estimation, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer needs into hardware and software requirements.
  • Identifies, analyzes, defines, and coordinates user, customer, and stakeholder needs and translates them into enterprise requirements.
  • Identifies and coordinates with customer, partner, and program stakeholders to communicate and resolve specific functional or technical problems immediately and as they are identified.
  • Ensures that all the pieces of an engineering system work together to meet functional and technical requirements for operations to manage and maintain while simultaneously assessing business and management requirements.
  • Expands or modifies systems to serve new purposes or improve workflow.
  • Identifies technical risks and develops mitigation strategies.
  • Performs strategic systems planning, business information planning, business analysis, and business process improvement practices.
  • Applies re-engineering methodologies and principles and business process modernization projects.
  • Applies activity and data modeling, transaction flow analysis, internal control and risk analysis, and modern business methods and performance measurement techniques.
  • Evaluates industry offerings for products and technologies with potential to support design.
  • Identifies potential impacts of systems.
  • Develops and applies organization-wide information models for use in designing and building integrated systems.
  • Assists in establishing standards and guidelines for information systems procedures.
  • Assesses system designs to validate them against expected technical parameters.
  • Identifies hardware and applications needed to complete the development process.
  • Engineers and modifies rulesets to allow connectivity for new customer requirements.
  • Reads, understands, and develops schematic diagrams, technical manuals, and documentation such that the supported equipment and software can be maintained with minimal training.
  • Represents the team and delivers status reports to internal and external leadership.
