About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking a Tier II Network Engineer to support an Intelligence Community (IC) program. This role involves providing network support to the customer’s various wide area networks (WANs) and local area networks (LANs) across an enterprise-level infrastructure spanning multiple classifications. The position requires installation and maintenance of LAN/WAN devices, incident resolution, troubleshooting, and adherence to Service Level Objectives/Agreements (SLOs/SLAs). The Network Engineer will also draft and implement standard network change requests, support Tier III engineers with incident management and projects, and perform configuration management functions including updating topology drawings, ensuring asset management accuracy, and conducting inventory. Coordination of network operations, maintenance, repairs, and upgrades is also a key responsibility, including knowledge of the CISCO/Juniper RMA process.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education.
  • Must be compliant with DoD 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
  • Experience with configuring and troubleshooting Juniper and Cisco routers and switches.
  • Experience with protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VPN’s, VRF’s, MPLS.
  • Understanding of routing, switching, Internet Protocol (IP) subnet, Network Address Translation (NAT) and security technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Service Now or similar IT Service Management (ITSM) products.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge of MS Office products Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Excellent organizational and follow through skills.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Detail oriented with problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Palo Alto, Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), and Forcepoint firewall equipment and applications is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices.
  • Respond to and resolve incidents, demonstrate troubleshooting skills and communicate with the team.
  • Complete assigned tasks within Service Level Objectives/Agreements (SLOs/SLAs).
  • Draft and implement standard network change requests.
  • Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, TEMS, coordinate and install new equipment).
  • Perform configuration management functions such as update topology drawings, ensure asset management records are accurate, and conduct inventory.
  • Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.
  • Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper RMA process.
  • Layer 1 network experience (CAT5/6, SM/MM Fiber, Serial cables, SFP).
  • Layer 2 network experience (ability to configure/troubleshoot switches/routers, MAC addresses, VLANs, port security, applying thin and thick configs).
  • Layer 3 network experience (subnetting, familiar with protocols such as OSPF, BGP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE).
  • Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLAN’s, Port Security, Thin Configs).
  • Perform IOS upgrades for Cisco, Juniper, Brocade and Foundry OS.
  • Experience with Visio.
  • Familiar with ServiceNow and Confluence.
  • May have up to 10% COMSEC responsibilities based on site and team needs.
  • Ability to represent the team and deliver status reports to internal and external leadership.
  • Available to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Available to work flexible hours, to include weekend support.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
