The Valley Air District is recruiting for a Network Systems Analyst I to fill a current vacancy assigned to the Information Technology Services Department located in Fresno, California. The eligible list established as a result of this recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies. After two years of service, incumbents may be eligible to advance to the Network Systems Analyst II classification. At the II level, incumbents are fully competent and independently perform the full range of Network Systems Analyst duties. The current salary range for Network Systems Analyst II is $7,806.01 to $9,488.42 per month. Network Systems Analyst I is the entry-level class in the professional information systems support series. Incumbents perform routine office automation analysis and network systems work under close supervision, including determining system needs; installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining system hardware and software; conducting user training; and installing and maintaining local area networks. Network Systems Analyst II is the journey-level class in the series. Under general supervision, incumbents are fully competent to perform the full range of office automation analysis work including complex and sophisticated systems analysis and implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in information systems, computer science, or a closely related discipline (for Level I)
• Basic knowledge of network systems hardware, software, and design is desired (for Level I)
• Experience in the analysis, design, programming, or implementation of automated systems may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of two (2) years (for Level I)
• Two (2) years of experience as a Network Systems Analyst I with the District (for Level II)
• Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of information systems analysis, including hardware and software options
• Knowledge of personal computer hardware and software, including local and wide area networking
• Knowledge of principles and practices for efficiently purchasing, operating, maintaining, and repairing systems
• Knowledge of principles and practices for analyzing, implementing, and supporting Geographical Information Systems (GIS) such as ArcGIS or similar programs
• Skill in analyzing office automation problems, formulating and evaluating alternatives, and making sound recommendations
• Skill in troubleshooting, installing, and maintaining personal computer, local area network, and wide area network hardware and software
• Skill in training user staff in the operation of new or revised computer applications
• Skill in preparing written training and resource materials
• Skill in preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials
• Skill in making oral presentations
• Skill in exercising sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• A valid California Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one upon hire (where applicable)
• Ability to attend work on a daily basis as scheduled
