About The Position

The Network & Systems Administration Lead supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will provide leadership, guidance, and oversight for a team of high performing, mission minded Linux and Windows system engineers (SE) and administrators (SA). Serve as the program Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SE and SA subjects, including operating systems, hardware/software integration, and virtualization. Have a firm understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems to delegate tasks to existing team of SE’s and SA’s in a fast-paced environment. Coordinate support with other internal program elements to give and receive additional support as needed. Work closely with other teams to provide high quality, innovative system administration services to the Government customer. Identify and define requirements for new systems/system modifications, developing designs, and implementing and testing solutions. Ensure daily system monitoring, system backup and restoral, and application upgrades to ensure optimal and continuous system operations. Be responsible for ensuring system software installations, maintenance, break/fix activities, and cyber security mitigations are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements. Coordinate with hardware and software vendors and participate in all vendor-required activities, such as quarterly infrastructure reviews. Assist in SE and SA tasks as the mission requires. Develop and maintain system plans, procedures, processes and baseline configuration documentation. Be responsible for creating training plans in order to develop and mentor SE’s and SA’s. Have excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate effective and efficient interchanges with various members of the team and stakeholders. Support projects from initiation through requirements management, task execution, and system sustainment. Document designs and create comprehensive implementation and test plans for execution by sustainment personnel. This position is a full-time, on-site position.

Requirements

  • Must have 12, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
  • Must have 6, or more, years of direct/specialized experience in a computer operations environment performing systems administration/systems engineering of either Windows or Linux systems
  • Must have 6, or more, months of experience working in a management or leadership role
  • Must have experience working with virtual environments (VMware, Linux KVM)
  • Must have experience managing network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.)
  • Must have a current DoW 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher (Security+)
  • Must have an active DoW Secret Security Clearance
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive projects to completion with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Have experience working within the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) or other Department of Defense (DoD) organizations
  • Have experience in developing detailed implementation plans for new solutions and systems
  • Have an understanding of the System Engineering V-Model and engineering lifecycle
  • Have a track record of effectively troubleshooting and applying critical thinking skills to resolve IT system dependencies, impacts, and sustainability challenges
  • Be familiar with Agile development methodologies
  • Have DoD networking experience with classified data networks and strong grasp of red/black concepts
  • Have a strong understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF 5.0) system requirements
  • Have a strong understanding of DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and their application
  • Have an understanding of basic operation automation and scripting (Powershell, Linux Bash, Ansible. etc.)
  • Have 1, or more, of the following certifications: CompTIA Linux+, CompTIA Network+, Red Hat Linux (RHCSA, RHCE) Windows (WSHAA), VMware (VCFA), and Juniper (JNCIA-Junos, JNCIA-SEC)
