About The Position

CTG is seeking to fill a Network Performance Monitoring Engineer opening for our client. This senior engineering role is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, governance, and continuous improvement of enterprise Network Performance Monitoring capabilities. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for monitoring platform architecture, telemetry collection, alert engineering, observability integration, performance analysis, automation, and operational excellence while ensuring scalable, reliable, and proactive monitoring across complex enterprise environments. Key areas of responsibility include: Monitoring platform ownership, lifecycle management, upgrades, and capacity planning. Network telemetry architecture utilizing SNMP, NetFlow, sFlow, IPFIX, streaming telemetry, and device metrics. Alert engineering including thresholds, baselines, anomaly detection, event correlation, and noise reduction. Network performance analysis, capacity planning, forecasting, and root cause analysis. Development of operational and executive dashboards, reporting, and SLA metrics. Integration with enterprise observability and IT Operations Management platforms. Major incident support and subject matter expertise for network monitoring technologies. Enterprise-wide monitoring coverage for on-premises, cloud, hybrid, and edge networking environments. Governance, compliance, monitoring standards, metadata management, and enterprise architecture alignment. Automation initiatives that improve MTTR, MTTD, monitoring coverage, and operational efficiency. No direct personnel management responsibilities. Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and subject matter expertise across engineering teams. Lead technical initiatives and promote enterprise monitoring best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of enterprise network engineering or network performance monitoring experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Network Performance Monitoring platforms such as SevOne or comparable enterprise monitoring solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of SNMP, NetFlow, sFlow, IPFIX, streaming telemetry, routing, switching, WAN technologies, and cloud networking.
  • Experience developing dashboards, KPIs, telemetry pipelines, alerting strategies, and monitoring automation.
  • Proven experience performing network performance analysis, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and capacity planning.
  • Experience with scripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with enterprise observability platforms including Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, ITOM, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience supporting AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud networking environments.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, or similar automation tools.
  • Experience implementing self-healing automation and proactive monitoring solutions.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, Network+, or ITIL are preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering, administration, and optimization of enterprise Network Performance Monitoring (NPM) platforms.
  • Design and manage network telemetry solutions utilizing SNMP, NetFlow, sFlow, IPFIX, and streaming telemetry.
  • Develop monitoring strategies that deliver comprehensive visibility across routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, WAN, and cloud networking environments.
  • Build intelligent alerting, anomaly detection, and event correlation to improve operational efficiency and reduce alert fatigue.
  • Analyze network performance, identify bottlenecks, and drive root cause analysis for latency, packet loss, congestion, and routing issues.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and KPI metrics supporting both operational teams and executive leadership.
  • Integrate network monitoring with enterprise observability platforms such as Dynatrace, ITOM, Splunk, Grafana, or similar technologies.
  • Automate monitoring workflows including device onboarding, dashboard creation, alert tuning, reporting, and proactive remediation.
  • Partner with Network Engineering, SRE, Infrastructure, and Application teams to improve monitoring coverage, incident response, and operational excellence.
  • Establish monitoring governance, standards, naming conventions, and enterprise best practices.
