About The Position

Network Operations Specialist II XVIII ABC Hub and Spoke MTCs provide individual and collective training on Army Mission Command Systems, using a variety of tools and Army fielded systems. These systems are used to support Small Unit Training: Squads through Company, Medium Unit Training: Battalion through Brigade, and Large Unit Training: Divisions and Corps in training environments ranging from Stability and Support Operations (SSO) through Unified Land Operations (ULO). Requirements

  • HS Diploma
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Network systems management methods, including end-to-end systems performance monitoring.
  • Network architecture and topology, including transmissions protocols, broadcastings, switching, control, and management.
  • Windows OS/s: Server/Windows, DA/NETCOM Risk Management Framework, particularly RMF 2.0; DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) process; hypervisor and virtual machines; familiarity and utilization of SolarWinds network management suite or similar NPM/NCM solution.
  • IAT-II baseline certification IAW former DoDD 8570.01-M: Security+CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA-Security
  • Secret clearance required to start

Responsibilities

  • Join a team of Network Operations Specialists in the maintenance of the MTC’s network infrastructure
  • Operate and maintain Cisco network equipment to include routers, layer 2/3 switches, Unified Call Manager (CUCM), and VoIPs
  • Deploy, operate, maintain, implement security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, antivirus, and encryption (Taclane)
  • Implement knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and security methodologies
  • Conduct periodic auditing and compliancy checks to assess vulnerabilities of the network infrastructure
  • Receive and interpret vulnerability scans to remediate network vulnerabilities
  • Safeguards the network against unauthorized infiltration, modification, destruction, or disclosure
  • Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required to support customer requirements.
