About The Position

At NS2 Mission, we design and maintain the secure, high-performance networks that power our nation's most critical missions. We are looking for a Network Engineer to join our team in Chantilly VA, where you'll help architect, implement, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure supporting Intelligence Community customers. In this role, you'll work closely with engineers, system administrators, and mission stakeholders to develop scalable network solutions, improve system performance, and ensure reliable connectivity across mission-critical environments. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and network architecture principles.
  • Experience with network monitoring, performance analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Experience planning and implementing network upgrades, system integrations, and infrastructure enhancements.
  • Ability to develop technical documentation, engineering diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, or other federal government network environments.
  • Experience with enterprise networking technologies from Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or similar vendors.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and analysis tools such as SolarWinds, Wireshark, PRTG, or comparable platforms.
  • Knowledge of network virtualization, software-defined networking (SDN), or cloud networking technologies.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIS, JNCIP, or equivalent networking certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing communications.
  • Develop network architectures and configuration plans that support the integration of new systems, technologies, and services into existing environments.
  • Evaluate network performance using diagnostic and monitoring tools, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and overall system performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to restore optimal operations.
  • Plan and execute network upgrades, enhancements, and infrastructure improvements while minimizing operational impact.
  • Assess proposed network modifications and technology enhancements, providing technical recommendations based on performance, scalability, and mission requirements.
  • Develop technical documentation, network diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support ongoing operations and maintenance activities.
  • Prepare technical recommendations and engineering documentation for architecture reviews and customer approval of new network technologies.
  • Perform routine operational support, preventive maintenance, and lifecycle management activities to ensure continued network availability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver innovative networking solutions that support evolving mission needs.
