About The Position

This role enhances the network security infrastructure by monitoring network performance, writing change control installation plans, and installing network security infrastructure. It involves assisting team members, working with suppliers and senior team members to review system performance, and identifying/recommending improvements to network alerts and monitors. The position also assists in network security design, assesses potential network security issues and identifies solutions, and conducts scheduled audits on network rules, alerts, and monitors. Additionally, it resolves network security infrastructure issues (e.g., firewalls, intrusion protection, advanced anti-malware, remote access) through troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. The role supports large-scale, cross-department production issues, resolves support problems in a timely manner, provides status updates, and drives supplier participation during problem resolution. It also evaluates industry standards and best practices against business needs for network infrastructure designs, identifies optimal topologies, platforms, and protocols, and documents design decisions. As part of a design team, this role specifies and outlines larger network infrastructure components and systems. It participates in setting the technical direction for the team by making recommendations, providing input for technology roadmaps, gathering business and technical requirements, evaluating supplier products, implementing best practices, and informing stakeholders of impactful issues. In Network Operations, the role utilizes Network Monitoring and Alerting tools, monitors Metrics and KPIs (e.g., Availability, MTBF, MTTR), and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) to maintain logs and documentation of network performance. It monitors current performance data to ensure adherence to defined SLOs for simple network applications/systems and comprehends different alert types generated by monitoring tools.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field; OR Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field plus 2 years of experience in information technology or related experience.
  • Deploying and tuning IDS/IPS solutions like Snort, Suricata, or Palo Alto Threat Prevention.
  • Monitoring and analyzing network traffic for malicious activities.
  • Applying encryption, data loss prevention (DLP), and access control measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Managing, configuring, and optimizing firewalls such as Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Check Point.
  • Implementing firewall rules, NAT policies, and VPN configurations.
  • Leading security projects using Agile, Scrum, or PMP methodologies.
  • Coordinating with IT, security, and business teams to ensure network security alignment.
  • Utilizing SIEM tools like Splunk, QRadar, or Microsoft Sentinel for real-time security monitoring.
  • Conducting forensic analysis and threat hunting to detect and mitigate breaches.
  • Conducting security assessments of vendors and third-party providers, ensuring vendors meet security requirements and comply with organizational policies.
  • Developing and delivering cybersecurity awareness programs, training employees on phishing prevention, secure coding, and policy adherence.
  • Conducting security audits and risk assessments, conducting security risk assessments and evaluating potential threats, vulnerabilities, and impact on the organization, implementing risk mitigation strategies and continuous monitoring.
  • Managing IPSec and SSL VPNs for secure remote access, ensuring proper encryption and authentication mechanisms.
  • Understanding and applying frameworks like NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS to ensure compliance, and mapping internal security controls to industry standards.
  • Conducting internal/external audits to identify gaps and ensure adherence to security policies.
  • Developing and maintaining cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Using GRC platforms like RSA Archer, ServiceNow GRC, LogicGate, OneTrust, automating compliance tracking and risk reporting.
  • Any amount of experience with the required skills.
